A Bitcoin Improvement Proposal is a design document describing a change to Bitcoin, or a convention for the software built around it. Under BIP 3, each proposal is Draft (being written), Complete (finished, awaiting adoption), Deployed (live) or Closed (withdrawn, rejected or replaced). Types are Specification, Informational and Process.
Impact and core BIPs
Each BIP has an impact score from 0 to 100 showing how it ranks against the rest, mostly by how many other BIPs reference it. The 20 live BIPs with the highest impact are marked as core BIPs.
